Patrick Mills plays for the Australian Boomers basketball team. He is Australia’s best shooter, and I think he is the best player in the team. He was born in Canberra, and his father is a Torres Strait Islander and his mother is an aborigine. At the age of 15 he was selected to play for the ACT under 18’s squad to compete in the Australian National Championships. The following year Mills accepted a full time scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport, who had also developed Andrew Bogart and Lauren Jackson. My favourite part of his participation in the London Olympic games where he is representing Australia, was when he shot a 3 pointer against Russia with only 1.4 seconds to go to win the game for the Aussies. Their next game is against the USA, which will be a very tough game but I really hope they win. I think Patty Mills is a great role model because he never gives up, and he always gives 100% to every game he plays. Go Boomers!
